1. Sinai Safari with Camel Riding (6 days)
- Day 1:
- Departure from Cairo to Suez, passing through
the Suez Canal Tunnel into Sinai. Continue along the coast of
the Gulf of Suez, through Abu Zenima to Hamam Faraun (where 40
deg C sulphur springs flow into the sea). Proceed on gravel and
sand tracks to Serabit El Khadim. Overnight.
- Day 2:
- Hike to the remotely situated ruins of the Temple
of Hathor (dating from the Middle Kingdom, Hathor was the protectress
of the land of turquoise: Sinai). Drive onto the Forest of Pillars--a
geological wonder, and visit the holy tomb of a local Sheikh.
Overnight in a nearby Wadi (valley).
- Day 3:
- Drive through Wadi Mukatab--well known for its
Rock of Inscriptions. Continue to Wadi Firan, the biggest oasis
of South Sinai, and finally to Saint Catherine. Overnight at a
campsite.
- Day 4:
- Early morning climb to the summit of Mountain
Moses (2285 m.), followed by a visit to Saint Catherine Monastery.
Continue on camels to the Blue Canyon. Overnight.
- Day 5:
- Camel ride to Farch Um Seela, passing by Sinai's
splendid scenery and serene tranquility. Overnight at El Berka.
- Day 6:
- Breakfast. Camel ride to Saint Catherine. Return
to Cairo by the safari vehicle.
